Since 2013, I have been collaborating with the Department of Education at Roma Tre University as an external member of the Mathematics Laboratory for Primary Teacher Education. In this context, I have designed and led workshops that integrate expressive languages such as dance, music, and storytelling with the teaching of mathematics.
Among the experiences I have carried out, I led workshops such as "Dance, Music, and Mimesis for Learning Mathematics" (2012) and "Mathematics in Action: Voice, Gesture, and Dramaturgy for Staging a Mathematics Lesson"(2017), which explore mathematical concepts through the body and expressiveness. In the workshop "Geometry, Writing, Expression" (2018), participants worked on geometry through movement and storytelling activities; this workshop was held within the ANFOMAM project. Indeed, from 2018 to 2021, I took part as a member of the Erasmus+ project ANFoMaM (Aprender de los niños para formar a los maestros en el área de Matemáticas), in collaboration with the Public University of Navarre, the University of Zaragoza, the University of Bordeaux, and SESDOWN (Sociedad de Estudios sobre el Síndrome de Down). Within this project, I contributed to the development of workshops that combine aesthetic and expressive experiences, narrative materials, and hands-on activities for teaching basic mathematical concepts. The project also led to the creation of a teaching guide for trainers and teachers.
I have designed and delivered lessons and workshops on mathematics in movement, as well as workshops centered on picture books as a means of reflecting on mathematical and philosophical concepts.
In addition, I have planned and led activities focused on the teacher's stage presence, with particular attention to voice, gesture, and dramaturgy: these programs were conceived to enhance communication and interaction in the classroom.
My work has been presented at national and international conferences, including the ICME 2024 Congress in Sydney with the paper "Exploring Mathematical Concepts through Dance in Primary School" and the HPM 2024 conference (Sydney), where I discussed a learning path on the history of mathematics in primary school.
